Hi my name is Sara.
My favorite holiday is New Year's
Day because you get to play with
noise makers!
Auld
Lang Syne
|
Verse 1
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to
mind?
Should auld
acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang
syne?
For auld lang syne, my
dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of
kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
|
Verse 2
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to
mind?
Should auld
acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang
syne?
And here's a hand, my
trusty friend
And gie's a hand o'
thine
We'll take' a cup o'
kindness yet
For auld lang syne

The History of New
Years...
Celebrating the new year is
probably the oldest of all holidays. It was first
observed in ancient Babylon about 4000 years
ago. Early Egyptians used a
baby as a symbol of rebirth. The early church used
the baby to show the birth of the baby Jesus. This
idea was brought to early America by the Germans.
But now we all watch the ball in Times Square in
New York City!
For Luck in the New
Year...
People think that they can
change their luck for the coming year by what they
do or eat on New Year's Day. They like to celebrate
the first few minutes of the new year with family
and friends. Some people think that it is
especially lucky if you celebrate the new year with
a tall, dark-haired man. What does your family do
every year to bring good luck?

Some fun things,
recipes, and craft links for you and your
family!
