The Way to Rainy Moutian

Samantha

In chapter 16 of The Way to Rainy Mountain by N. Scott Momaday, it talks about being in danger. The storyteller emphasizes a man being chases by a buffalo. A man was walking along the plains, and a buffalo and him began to fight. The man would jump from tree to tree trying to get away from the buffalo. The man heard a voice that said, “Each time a buffalo begins to charge it spreads its cloven hooves and strikes the ground. The man thought he would die. But he shot the buffalo with an arrow. The historian talks about to old Kiowa me killed a buffalo with arrows. Momaday and his father walked in the medicine park. They had seen a calf laying in the grass; it was red-orange and beautiful. They had approached the calf, and then the mother of the calf went after them. The mother of the calf gave up after a short run.

My family and I take a trip to Florida every year. My uncle, aunt, grandmother, and grandfather all live down there. When we go down there we normally take me, my brother, sister, and mother. We stay there for a week. We visit most of the them parks; Disney is my favorite.

This years trip to Florida I was nine. I will never forget this trip was the most frightening trip ever. I experienced the fear of being in a large place where u didn’t know anybody. One afternoon we decided to go to Disney World. Even thought I had already been there several times I was very excited. When we first got there we went to walk over to the ride called Splash Mountain. Splash Mountain was my favorite ride at Disney at the time. Well as you know Disney is a very crowded place at times. Well, we were on our way to splash mountain and a large crowd of people were coming our way. It was a very tight squeeze. Me being so short I lost my mother in the swarm of people. I didn’t know what to do, I was so scared. I turned in circles screaming and looking for my family. They weren’t in front of me or behind me. Finally I turned around and seen my mother coming for me. I guess they had turned to get something to eat and I didn’t follow. That was the worst experience I had ever had.

I am sure that at some point in everybody’s life they will be in danger at one point. In this chapter people are in danger by being attacked by animals. In my story animals did not attack me but I was in danger by being lost. Being in danger is not the most pleasant or the most funnest thing either.
