These rings are as pretty as the one my mom gave to me and I bet they are valuable to someone. |
The Way To Rainy MountainAmyMomaday wore one of his grandmother’s bundles. He wore it on a string tied around his neck. If anyone who wore a medicine bundle failed to show it the proper respect, they say it gets heavy around the neck. There was an iron kettle outside of his grandmother’s house. It was so big that you could not move it. It was always there. It rang like a bell when you struck it. It was there to catch the rain water were they washed their hair in it. The most valuable thing to me is the ring my dad gave to my mom for their anniversary. When they got a divorce my mom told me that I could have it. I told her I would like all the rings that my dad bought her. She told me that I could have them when she passes away. I told her that every time I look at the ring, I would think of her. I felt really privileged when she put it on my finger because it is a $7,000 ring, and I do not want to lose it; it is so much money and my mom would kill me if I did. I will never take it off unless I have to. If I have to clean it I will take it off. I bet someone has something valuable to them that they are afraid to have, but they still have it because someone special gave it to them. They will try to keep it forever and ever;just like the ring my mom gave to me. So if you had something like that what would you do with it? I am going to hand mine down to my kids. The story The Way To Rainy Mountain and the story I wrote are similar because they talk about something valuable to someone. The chapter shares about how this kid’s grandmother’s iron kettle has always been a part of his life. My experience tells about how my mom gave me a ring that came from my dad and how I plan to keep it forever. The iron kettle and my ring are things which are valuable because both things mean something very much to us. |
