In chapter23 of The Way to Rainy Mountain by N Scott Momaday the three voices are tied together by the importance of valuables to the Kiowas. The storyteller emphasizes that the Tia-me had valuable things to them that were passed down from generation to generation;it says that the Tia-me bundle was not very big, but was full of power.

The historian points out that the Kiowas wore a medicine bundle around their nack.

Momadat speaking in his own voice talks about a great iron kettle that stood outside his grandmother's house next to the porch,no one could move it.He talked about how when it would rain it would fill up with water and they would wash their hair in the fresh rainwater.

The most valuable thing to me is a jewlery box that belonged to my great grandmother, who gave it to me before she died. The jewlery box isb pink with flowers on it.When you open it up, there is a ballerina that dances in circular motion to soft music. My grandmother got the box when she and my grandfather got married.

When I was younger, she would open the jewelry box and let me watch and listen to the music and ballerina,it was so beautiful an pretty to watch. She told me that when I got old enough that I could have it, but before I was old enough to have it, she got very sick and she got put in a nursing home. Three years after she died, my grandmother gave it to me.

I have the jewelry box put up at home, so that when I want to remeber all the laughs we shared and the tears we wept,I can get it out and remeber her. I will treasure it forever.
