Stant Manufacturing
Plant History
Stants has been a valued part of the Fayette
County community since 1898 when the George Stant Machine Works
opened. The company has experienced many changes since that time. Its
entry into Electroplating began in 1915. In 1927, Henry Ford selected
Stant as Model "A" Flying Quail Hood Ornament supplier. Stants
produced shell casings for the war effort in the 1940s. A major
manufacturing expansion occurred in 1966. In 1991, there was a
re-incorporation as Stant Manufacturing Division of Stant, Inc.
Stant Today
Today the Connersville plant is one of two plants
making up the Stant Manufacturing Division of Stant, Inc. The plant
employs 425 people. Product range includes radiator, fuel, and oil
caps, fuel tank valves, coolant system pressure testers, and contract
plating service (nickel/chrome and zinc).
Stant/Orange Elementary
Partnership
Stants has volunteered both time and money to
benefit Orange Elementary students. Some examples:
- Stant employees conducted tours of Stant Manufacturing for
Orange Elementary students.
- Stant engineers evaluated science fair projects selecting
the projects for the county science fair.
- Funds raised by the student council were matched by Stant
for the "Riley Kids' Caring and Sharing" campaign to benefit Riley Hospital
for Children.
- Stant items were donated to the school's carnival to increase
profits.
- Stant supported reading incentive programs.
- Stant engineers developed a list of "Stant Effective Employee
Skills". Based on this list, Stant awarded the STANT AWARD to one student
at each grade level who demonstrated these work place skills. Trophies were
presented to award winners.
