Orange Elementary School is one of eight (8) elementary schools in the Fayette County School Corporation. It is located in south-western rural Fayette County in the town of Orange, Indiana. The school serves many small farm families, as well as industrial workers. Fayette County has a population of approximately twenty-eight thousand (28,000). The population of Connersville, the county seat, is approximately seventeen thousand (17,000). Fayette County has a variety of industries including manufacturers of automobile parts, vacuum pumps, and gas caps. One of these, Stant Manufacturing, serves as a partner in education for Orange.

Orange Elementary is a one story building constructed in 1958. In 1990, a portable unit was placed on the campus to house the school library and computer lab. The school and library are well-maintained and serve one hundred ten (110) students in grades 1-6. Students are grouped heterogeneously in self-contained classrooms.
The regular education teachers
have received training in C.L.A.S.S. and have changed their teaching styles to
address student learning styles. This training has also brought about changes
in the classroom environment, as well as a more connected approach to teaching
and learning. Each teacher is using a whole language approach for language
instruction, and some are involved in developing a thematic approach to
instruction. Each staff member is committed to
provide a learning environment conducive to student growth as described in the
school's mission statement.
