On September 14th, displaced Visteon workers--through WorkOne--began learning how to weld. Two months into the class, students have learned the basics of welding safety, correct use of welding equipment, such as the torch, what the different objectives are and how different rods are used for each welding procedure. They have also learned how track burning is used to help with the final weldment and all positions used in basic welding. Next on their agenda is learning Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG).
