
Constance Thomas, 5th grader, was the winner of the Fayette Central Spelling Bee. She also placed third at the county spelling bee.
Ivan Ross, sixth grader, was chosen as the Drug Coalition Poster Contest Winner for Red Ribbon Week. He received an Ipod Shuffle. Kylei Klein and Rachel Kroger tied for second place and received stuffed monkeys, since the theme was "Don't Monkey around with Drugs".
Over 60 students completed their Summer Reading Passports by reading at least eight books during the summer or completing the Summer Counts Book Program. Ashley Klein and Michael Frazier had their names chosen from a drawing to receive new bicycles.
In the first annual "Battle of the Books" Fayette Central third graders received the traveling trophy for winning the reading comprehension competition. The team winners were: Tyler Drew, Tanner Emory, Angela Gay, Josh Godsey, Carmen Greiner, Ally Jennings, Dalton Light, Madison Powell, Courtney Tussey and Abigail Wilson.
On the NWEA 73% of second graders at Fayette Central met growth target in math and 66% of second graders met their growth target in reading.
On NWEA 77% of the fifth graders met their growth target in math and 64% of fourth graders met their growth target in reading.
On the 2010 ISTEP+, students demonstrated 81% passing or above at every grade level in reading.
In fifth grade 43% of the students received pass plus in math.
The attendance rate has been over 96% the last five years.
Kylei Klein won the fifth grade "Anti Smoking T-Shirt Design Contest" for the entire county, sponsored by the Fayette County Health Department.
Fayette Central has made AYP the last four years.
